The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 that hide, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the breath of morning 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
