And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
