In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 This is an account of your Lord's mercy bestowed upon His servant Zachariah, 2 When he called to his Lord inwardly, 3 He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. 4 Lo! I fear my kinsfolk after me, since my wife is barren. Oh, give me from Thy presence a successor 5 Inheriting me and inheriting the Children of Ya'qub; and make him, my Lord, acceptable! 6 'O Zachariah, We give thee good tidings of a boy, whose name is John. No namesake have We given him aforetime.' 7 He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age? 8 He answered: "So shall it be." Your Lord says: "It is easy for Me," and then added: "For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing." 9 He said: "O Lord, give me a token." "Though sound," He answered, "you will not talk to any one for three nights running." 10 Then he came forth unto his people from the sanctuary, and signified to them: Glorify your Lord at break of day and fall of night. 11 O Yahya! hold fast the book. And We vouchsafed unto him wisdom, while yet a child. 12 And (made him) sympathetic to men as a mercy (or a grant) from Us, and pure from sins [i.e. Yahya (John)] and he was righteous, 13 honoring his parents, being neither arrogant nor rebellious. 14 So Peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 15
