And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Yet whenever its Messenger came to a nation they belied him, so We made them follow others, and We made them but as tales, so begone the nation who did not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
