And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 He said: O my Lord! surely I fear that they will reject me; 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 Yet you were ungrateful and have done the deed you did' 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you, then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me of the apostles; 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 He said: What! even if I bring to you something manifest? 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
