And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
