Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
