And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
