And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 He is All-hearing and All-knowing." 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
