The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
