The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
