The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
