The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
