Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
