The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
