The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
