Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every backbiter, slanderer 1 Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by, 2 thinking that his property will make him live forever. 3 By no means! He shall surely be cast into the Crushing Fire. 4 And what do you know what the Crusher is? 5 The fire of Allah, that is ablaze. 6 the Fire that shall rise to the hearts (of criminals). 7 Lo! it is closed in on them 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
