The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
