The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
