The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 We have never destroyed a township without a definite decree having been issued; 4 and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 5 And they said, “O you upon whom the Qur’an has been sent, you are indeed insane.” 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
