The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
