In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 And scatter (things) far and wide; 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 excusing or warning, 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will explain to thee what is the Day of Sorting out? 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 For a known extent. 22 Thus We have determined the stages of development and Our power to determine is excellent indeed. 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 and yellow camels. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
