The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
