Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
