He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
