He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
