The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
