The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
