The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
