The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
