Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
