The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
