The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
