Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
