And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
