The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
