And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
