S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 The people of Noah, Ad and the dominating Pharaoh had rejected Our revelations. 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
