Hast thou not regarded those who dispute concerning the signs of God, how they are turned about? 69 Those who cry lies to the Book and that wherewith We sent Our Messengers -- soon they will know! 70 When the fetters and chains are round their necks they shall be dragged 71 In boiling water; they will then be ignited* in the fire. (Like fuel – see verse 2:24) 72 Then it will be said to them, "Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship] 73 Beside Allah? They will say: they have failed us; aye! we have not been calling upon aught afore. Thus doth Allah lead the infidels astray. 74 (They will be told): “This is because while you were on earth you took delight in untruth and exulted in it. 75 Enter [now] the gates of hell, therein to abide: and how vile an abode for all who are given to false pride!" 76 Therefore be patient (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), undoubtedly Allah’s promise is true; and whether We show some of what We promise them, or cause you to pass away before it – in any case they will return to Us. 77 We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. 78
