The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
