The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
