The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
