Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 From the guilty. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
