Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
