The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
