The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
