Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 and spread much corruption in the land. 12 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, 15 And when He proveth him, and so stinteth unto him his provision, he saith: 'my Lord hath despised me. 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 and you urge not the feeding of the needy, 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 nor will any bind as He binds. 26 (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
