Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
