The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
