Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
