Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
